Which bow to use for barrage?
For a barrage ranger, i hear many people say to use a flatbow, but just as many say to use a recurve bow. Flatbow has nice range, but a very high arch (can be brought down with Read The Wind/Favorable Winds), but recurve bows have a very low arc, and decent range.
So my question is, are flatbows better than recurve bows while using barrage? if not, is it worth the skill slot to bring favorable wind and make it better?
thanks

With FW flatbows are best since they have the highest firerate(same as shortbow).
Without FW, go for recurves so you can actually hit a spell with your rupts.

I'm going to have to say either hornbow or longbow. If you're planning on spamming it cause of its 1 second recharge, then chances are, attack speed isn't going to matter cause you can't squeeze in another attack between recharges... I think...

Ignore all the above posters except Eragon Zarroc. It all depends what your using it for; and when. There is no single answer to your question. Favorable Winds is never a bad choice if you can miss the slot; and its not for hardcore PvP play.

IF you have any interrupts on your bar, you must either use a recurve bow or bring favorable winds.
IF you bring favorable winds, you might was well bring a flatbow.
IF you have no interrupts and no favorable winds, I'd suggest longbow, but it is open to debate.

Swap between a vamp flat bow and a vamp recurve bow. Use the flat bow when enemies are still and you know the important interrupts you need to hit are 2sec+, use the recurve bow when you need to hit faster spells or your group of targets is still scattering around.

The skill recharge of barrage times up perfectly with the refire rate of a recurve bow. It's probably a good idea to carry a pulling bow as well - either longbow or flatbow for range.

Spamming Barrage increaces the time between two attacks by about 0.2-0.3 seconds for every bow, so there isn't an ideal bow for barrage refire rate-wise.
Regarding your question:

Recurve Bows are the most balanced and best if you can't decide.
But you may also want to carry a longbow for situations that call for it.

There is only one reason to bring a recurve bow, when you want to interrupt. If you are barraging you don't want to interrupt at the same time, because your interrupt will be queued behind a Barrage activation 90% of the time so you will miss anyhow. If you want to interrupt when barraging, swap bows.
Flatbow has the fastest refire rate which works best with Barrarge, as you can always activate barrage before the refire rate (1 sec recharge on Barrage) so you will take advantage of this speed (ie, Barrage spam is limited by bow fire rate). This is not true with Volley so the flatbow rate advantage is not as good, longbows are probably better for Volley.
As for the high arc of flatbows, this is not relevent, you should never be barraging moving targets, if you are, then you are in a bad setup, against stationary targets, flatbow is the best.
